Welcome to Ssuzzy's Schnauzers.
We are a home based breeder located in Bearspaw at the outskirts of Calgary in Alberta. All our puppies are CKC registered and raised in a home setting.
Puppies are socialized with people, children, and with all the attention, care and love that comes with a home setting.
ABOUT
SCHNAUZERS
The Miniature Schnauzer is a small dog with a whole lot of heart. He's always in the top 20 most popular breeds in Canada, the U.S., England, and Germany, but he's bred around the world.
He is a "people individual" all the way: Extroverted with moderately high energy, he just wants to have fun. He's incredibly loyal to his family — and he requires a great deal of attention.

He's got a long beard and bushy eyebrows, and he's a handful. Developed as a ratter, but he isn't used much as a ratter any longer (although the instinct is still there), but he still has the lively, mischievous personality.
He likes to be in the center of the action. He's good with children and he's energetic.

He's protective of the people he loves and is often suspicious of strangers, until you let him know they're welcome. He's an excellent watchdog, sometimes to your frustration, and will alert you to visitors, burglars, and blowing branches. His bark can be piercing.
Robust in body and mind, the Miniature Schnauzer is a lively, feisty, smart, happy, vocal, affectionate, low-shedding dog. He makes a fine addition to an active family.

The Miniature Schnauzer is people-oriented and wants nothing more than to hang out with you. He's incredibly affectionate.

A Miniature Schnauzer is intelligent, mischievous, and often stubborn. He's full of life.

He's low-shedding, but high-maintenance in terms of grooming. He needs to be clipped every five to eight weeks or so.

He's noisy. Protective of home and family, he'll bark even at slight noises.

He's good with kids and other dogs, but not to be trusted around small mammals.

Always keep your Miniature Schnauzer on a leash when you're not in a fenced area. If he sees something and wants to chase it, he will likely ignore your calls.

A bored Miniature Schnauzer is an unhappy Miniature Schnauzer. Because he's intelligent and energetic, he thrives on varied activities and exercise. Make sure that you give him both, or he'll become destructive and ill-tempered.

SCHNAUZERS

The sole purpose of our breeding program is to provide families with great companions. We only produce one litter per year from our dogs in Canada, or our dogs in México which puppies are later imported into Canada.
We have selected two of our best dogs for this litter to ensure quality and 100% adherence to the breed standards as described by FCI - Federation Cynologique Internationale.

We take pride in our breeding program, and Schnauzers are the only dogs we breed, so there are no accidental breeding or mixed breeds. We take great care to ensure that blood lines are managed properly adhering to breeding best practices. We breed for quality not quantity, we love our puppies very much and make sure they go to the right home after a selection process.

OUR ADOPTING FAMILIES
Clover has been an amazing addition to our family. She is such a sweet tempered, genial, loving and affectionate pup. It was really important to us to have a healthy and well socialized puppy (and she also happens to be beautiful). Clover is that pup.
The entire process of adopting our little baby girl has been so easy. Ssuzzy's Schnauzers kept in touch with us through frequent emails, videos and pictures since birth which was a complete blessing to us and is always willing to answer any questions we have. They are very knowledgeable about the breed and that was of great importance to us. We wanted a quality pup with great breeding and that is what we have with our Clover.

We fell in love with Clover before we even met her because of us being able to follow her progress from birth onwards.
​
When we were ready to pick Clover up, we were provided with a very detailed list of what we would need to make the transition home very simple and painless. He gave us her schedule that she was used to and that was so valuable. She settled in so very very quickly because of all of the information we had. We got insight into her personality, what type of toys she liked, how affectionate she was, games she liked to play, food choice etc and I credit this advice with such an easy transition.

Clover was so easy to housetrain, all of the foundations were laid before we picked her up. She slept through the night from the second night on.
​
Clover is a very healthy, agile, alert, spunky little girl. We love her so much and are so blessed to have her as an addition to our family. She settled in very well with our senior Mini Schnauzer (13) as well and has made very good friends with other dogs in our extended family.

We are extremely grateful for the exceptional care that Ssuzzy's Schnauzers family gave to our beautiful Clover.

We had been looking for a dog for a long time before we stumbled upon Ssuzzy's schnauzers. We messaged them and by chance there was a litter born the day before and they had an unclaimed puppy.
We could not believe how lucky we were. From the beginning Carlos was always available to answer our questions and consistently provided photos and videos of the litter and our pup.

Carlos facilitated a visit with Francis before we were able to take him home and it was immediately clear that he truly loved the dogs. When the time came close to take him home we were provided with lists of everything we would need, and was able to be flexible with pick up times.
​
Now that Francis is in our home we could not be happier. While not without some challenges Francis has become a constant companion and an indispensable part of our family. We can not imagine life without him.

We can’t say enough about how great our experience with Ssuzzy’s Schnauzers has been. Since our first communication Carlos was accommodating, friendly, and full of information. He sent; almost weekly, emails with how Murray (and his brother and sisters) were growing and developing, always including either pictures, a video, or even a slideshow of how our little guy was doing. Once government regulations allowed, was even kind enough to provide a safe environment so that we were able to visit.
Prior to our pick up date Carlos emailed a whole list on what to expect at home with our new puppy, what type of food and amounts he would need, what his favourite toys and games were and even what his sleep schedule and bathroom schedule had been. We had prepared ourselves that bringing a puppy home would have us up all hours of the night, much like a baby, but Carlos had already worked on having the puppies adjusted to sleeping on their own and thru the night.
He also took them outside for bathroom breaks, not just having them go inside on pee pads. This definitely made the transition for all of us so much easier. We are very lucky to have found a breeder that really truly cares and puts so much of their time and love into each puppy.
Our dog is healthy, active, loving and full of life, which all started from where he was raised. He is such a wonderful addition to our family and if we ever looked at adding another, we would definitely hope to go thru Ssuzzy’s Schnauzers again. Anyone looking at having a Miniature Schnauzer join their family, we highly recommend Carlos and Ssuzzy’s Schnauzers!!

I just wanted to say thank you for being such a caring and thorough breeder of Mini Schnauzers. Back in the spring if 2020 I reached out to your website seeking a mini for a new pet and loved one.
I had 2 mini schnauzer before however you did your diligence in making sure I was going to be a good owner as well I was doing mine with you. As the summer progressed you notified me that I was going to be able to have a little girl from your litter. Originally I had expressed I wanted a female ideally and one that was playful and loving with a lot of spirit if possible.
Your family's thorough care of the littler was apparent... I felt very at ease as you sent pictures and videos of Oreo's (we named her early) development and personality growth during play and snuggle times.

When it was time to come get Oreo at 3 months ... I drove to Alberta from the Okanagan in BC and picked up Oreo and we did a slow getting use to time with myself and Oreo before I headed back home with my prized puppy...
​
During the ride home Oreo started to get more comfortable with me and has been the most loving, affectionate and playful dog I have ever had. She is so strong and healthy and has an amazing personality. She is now 8 months old and doing amazing. I appreciated the connection and post contact we have kept up as you have been interested in Oreo and her development as well as I know your daughter was quite attached to her.

At 6.5 months we got Oreo her first grooming and we realized that our gorgeous black and silver mini was actually a Phantom Black and Silver Mini... her gorgeous marking became much more predominantly clear and we were even more pleased.

Oreo
There has been a miniature schnauzer in our family for over 10 years and we had been waiting for the right opportunity to grow our pack. When we found Ssuzzy’s Schnauzers and talked to Carlos, we knew we found the breeder for our next puppy.
After learning about the puppy’s parents and breeding process, Carlos provided detailed information and recommendations to make sure we were prepared for the new puppy and to make the puppy’s transition to her new home as easy as possible. Carlos also provided pictures and videos of our puppy (and her litter mates) regularly - we got to know our puppy and watch her grow right from the beginning. We also picked out our new puppy’s name early enough that Carlos was able to include her name on the CKC registration so there would be no need to change it at a later date. We chose the name Blitz, the German word for lightning, and it suits her and her personality perfectly!
When our new puppy first came home, she was already very well socialized and was mostly house broken - thanks to Carlos and his family’s hard work preparing her. She was so well adjusted she actually slept all the way through her first night at her new home! Blitz was very smart at a young age and was very easy to train; housebreaking took no time at all and she picked up on sit/lay/come really quickly. Now that she’s old enough to visit the off leash areas, she’s the most popular dog everywhere we go. She is very playful and gets along with everyone....she is usually at the centre of the action because no one can resist her charm and playful energy. It’s a special treat when I bring her to work with me, my whole office loves when she comes to visit.
I also really liked the fact Carlos and Ssuzzy’s schnauzers choose not to dock the tail or crop the ears. Having a tail adds so much expression to the dogs body language and Blitz is so cute when she wags her tail I couldn’t imagine her with out it!
I honestly couldn’t be happier with the entire experience and with my puppy. Blitz is a very happy and healthy girl with a lot of energy and the sweetest personality, she quickly became our new best friend. Blitz is full of love and has brought so much happiness to our home, I would recommend Ssuzzy’s schnauzers to anyone looking for a beautiful dog from a fantastic breeder.

During a time when the world was in such turmoil, uncertainty and high demand for pups, we were on the search to fill a void after the sudden passing of our old dog, Zoey. We were so thankful to find Carlos and Ssuzzy's Schnauzers! What we found was a family that was incredibly passionate about their dogs and pups. We couldn’t have asked for a better outcome! We are blessed to have Shelby in our life. She’s a beautiful, healthy, well-tempered, intelligent mini schnauzer!
